This handmade wooden cup was designed by Oji Masanori and made from castor aralia grown in Hokkaido, Japan by Takahashi Kougei, a group of master craftsman. The mug is shaped by hand using a wheel and is worked until it is only a couple of millimeters-thick. "Kami" means paper in Japanese and so the mug is named after its sheer texture. The whole process of crafting the Kami Mug takes approximately 4 weeks from the rough lumber to the final product. It is breathtaking to know how much time and effort is poured into each one of the wooden mugs. The mug gives a smooth, warm touch on your lips and is perfect for tea or coffee as the wood works as a natural insulator, keeping the drink hot.
