This subtle but beautiful piece of jewellery emphasises the unique bright white finish of fine bone china paired with a long (18") and elegant 9ct gold chain. Cast and cut by hand in Staffordshire, England the bone china rings that make up the Hula designs maintain a slight asymmetry, fixed permanently by firing. Their beauty can be found in these slight irregularities giving each piece a unique character. Designed by British-Japanese designer, Reiko Kaneko, the Hula range of pendant necklaces were a year in the making and can be comfortably worn every day. Reiko set-up her studio in 2007 and creates beautiful tableware and jewellery pieces combining Japanese aesthetics with the craftsmanship and quality of bone china made in England.

After leaving Central Saint Martins College, London, Reiko Kaneko, a British-Japanese designer set up her studio in 2007 in the East End of London. She was soon making a name for herself and becoming well known for her quirky and humorous gift pieces.
Recently Reiko has moved her business to Stoke on Trent, also known as “the potteries”. The area is considered by many as the birthplace of bone china as a result of the fact that Josiah Spode, in the late eighteenth century, created a new formula to produce bone china and ”the potteries” became the main centre for its production in the world.
