This beautiful wooden butter dish and self contained wooden butter knife was designed by Oji Masanori and made from Walnut wood. A stunning example of Japanese craftsmanship, each piece is made by hand by Takahashi Kougei, a group of master craftsman known for their delicate products made using highly sophisticated woodturning techniques passed down from earlier generations. Every corner and edge of these wooden butter dishes are finished to give a round shape, whilst the fitting edges of the dish and lid are angled at 45 degrees so that the lid sits tightly on the case. "Kakudo" means angle in Japanese. The dish and butter knife are fantastic to use and when you touch them you can feel how much time and effort is poured into making each one.
