This wooden salt pot is made by hand from sustainably sourced Spalted Beech. The naturally unique lines and streaks, and varying colour in the wood is caused by a fungal decay known as spalting. As a result of using spalted wood not only do you get a characterful piece but it also makes each Salt Pot truly one of a kind. The wooden pinch pots look fantastic when filled with salt on a kitchen table or can be used as a place for keeping jewellery and trinkets.
The Spalted Beech Salt Pot features a thick curved wall and measures 10cm in diameter by 7cm in height. A 2cm wide lip, slanted in towards the centre, helps to prevent salt spilling out when being pinched from the pot. The wooden salt pots are hours in the making, with each one being individually turned by hand on a lathe and then finely sanded to provide an extremely smooth tactile finish. The Salt Pot is then coated in a food-safe wax to help protect the wood.
An example of handmade British craftsmanship, the wooden pinch pots look great whether in a contemporary or traditional home and will last a lifetime if properly looked after. These beautiful wooden pots also make a fantastic wedding or house warming gift that can be treasured for generations. The Spalted Beech Wooden Salt Pots are designed and handmade by Alastair Matthews in his workshop near Saffron Walden, Essex.
*Please Note* The images shown of this product feature two examples but are not the actual Salt Pots you will receive. As each bowl is handmade from wood no two will be the same but the product you receive will be similar in colour, grain character, shape and size.
